Bentonite clay Mask for Acne-Prone Skin

Posted by Ruby Tequin on

For several years, people have been using bentonite clay as part of their facial and skin care regimen. Bentonite clay, also called as Montmorillonite clay, is formed from an aged-volcanic, fine-grained ash used as a traditional detox tool since pre-historic times.

Bentonite clay is just one among the many kinds of clay used as a facial mask. This type of clay is known for its unique detoxifying properties that help your skin eliminate impurities. When mixed with water, it turns into a sponge full of negative components that absorb positively charged elements such as toxins and heavy metals. Many people who have sensitive skin turn to bentonite clay as an alternative to treat their acne. Here’s some tips on how to tone down breakouts using the clay:

  • Skip your usual or new skin routine
  • Avoid using too many products on your skin. Follow this three easy steps: Wash, exfoliate, and moisturize.
  • Use a bentonite clay as a mask. Simply mix water to a ½ teaspoon of clay enough to make a consistency similar to mud. Apply the mixture on your skin and let it sit for at least 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Repeat this routine for at least two times a day, before going to work and before hitting the sack, to maximize its benefits.
